[Korean Dubbing &VO] When Professional Korean Voice Actors Take on K-Pop Demon Hunters

If you’ve been following our journey, you know how obsessed we are with voice over games—especially seeing how platforms like itch.io are shaking up the indie scene. As a professional voice over studio right here in Korea, we’ve been watching these trends with total fascination.

Lately, we had a fun thought: What if we brought this concept into live-action reality?

What if we had professional Korean voice actors tackle iconic characters piece by piece? When there’s already an official Korean dub out there, comparing the union vs. non-union talent—or the legendary original voice vs. a fresh challenger—adds a whole new layer of entertainment. And for animations? Sometimes, a bold, fresh reinterpretation hits just right. If you love deep-diving into original works versus dubs, we guarantee these alternate takes will blow your mind.

Meet Jinwoo from K-Pop Demon Hunters (Brought to Life by a Pro Korean Voice Actor)

Today, we are beyond excited to spotlight a special challenge video featuring Jinwoo from the animated hit K-Pop: Demon Hunters.

The actor who stepped up to the mic delivered a performance of Jinwoo that honestly feels more Jinwoo than the original Jinwoo. Fun fact: even though we didn't put the voice actor's name in the credits, friends and colleagues flooded them with messages asking, "Wait, did you actually do the official dub for this?!" That is the ultimate stamp of approval.

Why Male Voice Actor Challenges Are Rare

In the voice acting industry here in Korea, female voice actors statistically handle a higher volume of projects. Because they possess the incredible range to voice everything from adult women to young boys and children, their presence in major animated series, blockbuster games, and character-driven projects is massive.

That’s why today’s showcase featuring a talented Korean male voice actor taking on Jinwoo feels extra special and rare. Trust us, once you hear it, you’ll agree: it’s uncanny! Please click the link to see the video.

The Gwi-ma Challenge: Lee Byung-hun vs. Our Local English Voice Talent

Let’s talk about another powerhouse character from K-Pop: Demon Hunters—Gwi-ma.

In the original work, Gwi-ma is voiced by the legendary Korean actor Lee Byung-hun (yes, an actual on-screen actor by trade, not a career voice actor!). Because of his powerhouse acting chops, iconic voice, and flawless English skills honed from his massive Hollywood career, his performance as Gwi-ma was phenomenal.

However, we couldn't resist putting our own spin on it. We had one of the English voice actors we frequently collaborate with right here in Korea take a stab at the role.

The result? Absolutely stunning. In fact, many listeners couldn't tell whether they were hearing the real Lee Byung-hun or our challenger! Like below screenshot (hilighted in yellow), some asked if Gwi-ma was dubbed by this voice actor or Lee Byung-hun.

(Just to clarify: The official English dub of Gwi-ma was indeed done by the amazing Lee Byung-hun himself, but our studio challenger gave him a serious run for his money!)
